Take some time today to think about how Technology has impacted your learning. What are your favorite programs? Has there been a change in Technology this year that has helped you become more interested in a subject or topic?

In Room 306 we use technology daily. Students have access to their iPads during all curriculum times. They use on-line programs like Achieve 3000 for reading and responding, TenMarks for math practice and reteaching and Spelling City for spelling practice. We use a variety of Apps to reinforce our learning skills like Storia, Math Academy, Popwords, edmodo, and Sushi Monster. Other apps we are using to demonstrate our learning include Show Me, Blogger, Evernote and Wallwisher. We have seen a great deal of academic success related to the use of technology in our classroom including strong scores in Achieve, increased volume and quality of writing and reading and strength and confidence in math skills.
ReplyDeleteMs. Azzolina's classroom uses technology every day! We begin each morning by making our lunch choices with the Mimio and projector. We also use the Mimio during math, writing and reading to help extend our learning. In Daily 5 we use the iPads to go onto Raz-kids and Tumble Books. In inquiry we use the iPads to learn about the Solar System. We have used many apps and also websites such as "Kidsastronomy.com" and websites that Mr. Kelly has linked to our teacher blog pages to help us answer our essential questions about the Solar System. Mr. Kelly also purchased online books for us through Follett Shelf that we use daily. We are able to access the books from our iPads during inquiry time. Ms. Azzolina has a blog for all families to look at daily to see what is happening in the classroom and at Wilson School.
ReplyDeleteWe discussed how technology is all around us. We use cars,vans and buses to get to school. We have lights that turn on by the flip of a switch and a clock to help us tell the time. We have an electric pencil sharpener in our classroom and a computer cart that we share with other classrooms. We use radios and cd's to listen to music during writers workshop. Fan's are in the classroom to cool us off on warm days.
Through our discussion we learned that we could go on and on and on about technology in our lives.
Alex says, "We use technology daily with alarm clocks, radios, speakers and telephones."
Shaun says, "Everyone uses technology like iPads, iPhones, walkie-talkies, iPods and computers."
Technology is EVERYWHERE!!!!!!

We are happy we have technology that we can get on right away and we don't have to "dial up," to get the Internet! (Hayleigh) Without computers, we would not be able to go on KidPix to illustrate our books! (Tyler) Kids are able to do computers, laptops, iPads, iPhones, iPod touch, Nook, and many more things all at the same time! We can use them for learning! (Aysha) Technology is important because we could use technology for our homework, learning games, and to learn more! (Xavier) If we didn't have technology we wouldn't be able to use the Merriam Webster app on the iPads to help with our spelling words! (DiAngelo)

Ms. Pichler's class uses technology because it helps our learning by visiting different sites (Matthew). We use technology to go on Achieve 3000 to learn about different topics, understand texts better, and improve our reading skills (Emma). Technology helps me to understand how much learning we need in our life (Anthony). It helps us understand different subjects better(Maddy). We use technology to go on Compass learning to help our with our math and our map test (Jacob). It helps us improve our academic achievement (Colin). Without technology we would have only one way to find answers (Emily), we wouldn't know much (Paige), and we wouldn't have updated answers (Gabby). Without technology we would be back at the chalkboard and whiteboard era (Taylor) and we wouldn't be able to communicate using iPads, cell phones, and computers (Skyler H.). We can go online to get the dictionary to find words that you want to use in an essay (Skylar). Some people only use technology instead of books (Skylar). Technology is used everyday in our classroom.
